Dairy Queen
There's something strange about living here in Los Angeles, and when I say strange I mean unsettling....there are no Dairy Queens, Applebees, Olive Gardens, Carlos O'Kelly's, it's almost like these people enjoy having unique and unchained restaurants! But, since I am from the mid-west I crave those water downed bland options for italian, mexican and american food, i mean come on that's what i grew up with. So, on the way home from church Sunday, Joy and I decided to go to Dairy Queen, the only problem was that Joy had only been to Dairy Queen once and it was in the valley....i knew we had to go to the VALLEY for Dairy Queen! So, once we got to where Joy thought there was a Dairy Queen we realized that it had closed down and was no longer there...!!! But never fear, we were not faint of heart. Joy used the most genius invention ever....Google 411 to find out where the nearest Dairy Queen was....and of course it was in Burbank. So, we traveled to Burbank, only to discover that they didn't sell food, and when i asked for extra mint and extra oreos, the man looked at me like i was insane...I am sorry, I am from iowa, we don't mess around with our Dairy Queen, i take my order very seriously. When i say extra oreo and extra mint i mean it, cause i know how much of each you put in, and for this porker it just isn't enough! So, needless to say we ate our ice cream and then had chipotle...which topped off the afternoon oh so nicely ;)

EVENTUALLY EVERYTHING IN LIFE BECOMES A FUNNY STORY

Is it bad that the DQ extravaganza was a notable enough event in both our lives that we both blogged about it?
Ah how I missed the days in Ames when I lived only half a block from the Dairy Queen (wait.... maybe THAT's where some of this belly came from!!!)
