HOLA

So, apparently because I live in so cal, it is an advantage for most to speak spanish since most people here do. And well, i took four years of spanish in high school, but for the life of me I can't remember anything. Well, except one or two phrases....te gusta mocas? ha ha...i love that one. And oh yeah hola papasito besame mucho. Well and of course donde esta el bano?! But, the problem i have is that my name is maria and well lets face it, for growing up in iowa i look pretty much like a mexican. So, people assume that i speak spanish. This happens to me all the time. Like just yesterday i was on the phone and this man asked my name and then he asked me if i spoke spanish. Now, we had been talking for almost ten minutes and it was obvious that we were having troubles understanding each other....pretty sure if i spoke spanish i would have started! Dah! Also, this summer i was doing another emcee event and they told me i was in charge of an all spanish speaking crowd. I said, i don't speak spanish this could be a problem, they said oh you don't? i'm like no i don't speak spanish and no one asked me if i did either. So, then of course they told me that my assistant spoke spanish. So, when i got there i was like oh i'm so glad you speak spanish, cause i don't. He was like, i don't speak spanish...my last name is hernandez but that's about it. So apparently from just our names people assumed we spoke spanish. Isn't that a little ridiculous. But what's more ridiculous is that someone once mistakenly asked if i was japanese. I know, i'm from iowa, but come on....!
