things i never thought i'd hear come out of my mother's mouth....

"i'm watching american idol..."  - what?
"yeah, you know that girl haley...she sounds just like janis joplin" - again, what?
"she sang a led zeppelin song and it was really good"  - HOLD THE PHONE.....led zeppelin?!!!

now i would expect this coming from my father who would secretly watch married with children - come on dad we all knew you did it - and also listened to classic rock - and also talks about having sixties flashbacks....but my mother...she said this whole thing like she was talking about a piece of fabric she just purchased.  This is the same woman who told me she was watching a Walton's marathon last week... It was quite comical... loved it :)
